Welcome to the Platformer where we talk about games in an extremely amateur but fun way! This post is in regards to my Metroid (me) & Vania (girlfriend) series where I introduce my girlfriend to video games! Vania interacts with her childhood fantasy.
One last round
God of War: Chains of Olympus is that odd ginger cousin in your family, whom you’re not sure of his origins or if their hair is stained by the gods. He’s smaller than everyone else, and no one seems to know who he is…(Let’s not even get started on his brother Ghost of Sparta) This kid played with cool toys, however, such as Charon and Vania’s most intriguing toy, Persephone.
How was the playtime? turns out third times the charm! There was no difficulty to overcome. For Vania, it was like having a meal with a friend where you’re familiar with each other’s mannerisms and the flow of conversation has no awkward pauses.

I never once, as the seasoned gamer, aided in progression. She’s danced in the storm of chaos enough times to fully enjoy the story elements as she explored every nook and cranny.
Chains of Olympus is not part of the main series, instead, it’s a spin-off title? Set before the original? Which means… No revenge plot! Kratos embarks on a mission set out by the Gods to recover the sun. Which hugely juxtaposes the usual Kratos regime of turning every God he encounters into a fashion statement. This slight change brought Vania back into the franchise as she learned more about Kratos; his relationship with his daughter, the spark of hatred towards the Gods, more importantly. Why Kratos is an anti-hero. As to not give any spoilers, Kratos was once good-hearted (as much as you can be as a war conquering psychopath).
“I enjoyed the storyline, as I had already played God of War 3, I knew what was coming and it was fun to see the setup”
So Kratos is arguably the best version of himself, what about the antagonists? They take a while to appear but when they do. They make their impact.
Vania has always had, a soft obsession with the Greek underworld. In this game Charon guided the tour.

Fights where ‘you’re supposed to lose’ have always been a little frustrating for me as the thought of losing pierces my heart like one of my girlfriend’s smiles. So when Vania approached this fight with: dedication, determination and heart – I felt she would be disheartened. To my surprise, she felt…vindicated, instead, it provided a thirst for vengeance.

This is but a mere appetiser to the meat and potatoes (or you know… nice food) that is Persephone. Kratos is a shadow of the goddess as soon the ghost of Sparta will have the same mentality, the outline is there, hard to see. All it will require is a trilogy for it to come to light.

The boss battle is exhilarating as Persephone and the titan Atlas manipulate the surrounding but being able to attack Persephone gave the boss battle a focal point. Therefore Vania was not lost, thus concluding her final (for now) God of War.
Vania has loved her time with God of War and I think she has made some genuine gaming memories. She loved that it was possible to share her love ig Greek Mythology in a format we could enjoy together. So please go play any God of War game you can. (except ghost of Sparta)
Enough of murder now. It’s tiring, I will never be able to watch anothe Quentin Tarantino movie ever. Let’s relax with a nice puzzle and dive into one of gaming’s newest, and best experiences in…
